But I'm not the type of person to bank my hopes on a false entity.
Kiko thought, stepping inside the temple. And, to an extent, she wasn't. When she was younger, she gave her hope to her older brother, who was there, and who tried his hardest to complete both their dreams. And as she got older, and as her brother went away, she put her hope on the people around her, and on the one being that would help her, the most.
But I'm still here. I'm here, and I don't know why.
"I'm bored." Mitsukai decided to put in her two cents, knocking Kiko out of her thoughts. Giving a weary sort of sigh, Kiko turned around and gave Mitsukai a worn-down sort of smile, which had the neko chara feeling bad for a second.
"We'll go do something fun when I'm done here, okay?" Kiko promised, and stepped further in the love temple. It was the start of a new year(she went by the american year system, because the chinese one was too complicated), and it was time to make a new year's resolution.
"I..." Kiko started off, fiddling with the hem of her pink cashmere sweater. She was getting older, and the lolita theme, which was cute, was starting to lose it's effect on her, which meant it was time to change her look. Kiko was wearing a white, short sleeved blouse, a khaki, plaid mini-skirt, suede, beige boots that went half-way up her shins, and of course, her hot pink cashmere sweater. In her long black hair was a pink ribbon acting as a head-band, and she also had white knee-high socks on, under her boots.
If she could be egotistical for a second, she would have to admit, she looked pretty darned cute.
Back to the matter at hand, Kiko clapsed her hands in front of her, and brought them both to her lips, in a prayer-ish manner.
"I...want things to stay the same." Kiko murmured, thinking of her growing friend base, of her love with Shouta, of her growing confidence, and of Mitsukai, who with out a doubt, was one of her best friends. "And....I want things to change." Kiko said, after a pause, thinking of Hotaru, her brother, who she still hadn't managed to bring back, of Ima, who went to the darkside with all the wrong and right reasons, and of her father, who would never really take notice of her.
Mitsukai was exploring the inside of the temple, so that Kiko could focuse on her wish, so neither of them heard the incoming footsteps.

Somewhere deep with in the love shrine a door slammed shut and the empty doormat was soon replaced with a tall orange haired boy – apathy radiating from his whole being. Since winter break had started, Kenji had spent practically his whole time here doing odd jobs for money. True, he had known from the start that his only company (besides his chara) would be the old couple, their three-year-old niece, and some occasional girls and boys who prayed, but he had no idea how boring it would be after only two weeks.
He did the same tasks day-to-day, everyday, 24/7. Sweep the floor; rake the leaves; polish the bells; fix anything that was broken; prepare dinner; warm the bath up; go to sleep; wake up and repeat. The carrot top was confident enough to bet that he could do all this in his sleep if he wanted. If it wasn’t for the good pay, Kenji would have packed and been gone long ago.
However, there were some good things about the shrine. First, it was quiet, unlike the city he lived by. Second, it let him get away from all this annoyances a city brought – the noise, the smell, and even the people. The only thing he regretted was the fact he had left his girlfriend behind without even telling her she could find him. It was just something he did that defined him as the person he was now. Nevertheless, Shouta could already feel the wrath that would be brought upon him when he returned.
"I...want things to stay the same…….And....I want things to change."
Shouta froze, dropping the broom that was in his left hand. He knew this voice. He had memorized it; had grown to love it; he had even learned to fear it when angered. Why was it here now?
An impish smirk played upon his features. Quickly regaining his composure, the carrot top quietly made his was towards the raven hair. It was not until he was directly behind her – in which she still had not noticed his presence – did he cover her eyes with his hands.
”What the hell do you think your doing here, girlie?” Shouta said in a deep voice. With his left hand still covering the girl’s eyes, his right hand snaked around her waist, pulling Kiko closer to his body. For once, working here had never been more fun.

"You see, I was making a wish for the new year, but then this really cute guy happened to materialize out of no where, and almost gave a heart attack." Kiko gasped, trying to bring her heartbeat back into a more reasonable, slower pace than it was right now; her pulse was going too fast for her liking. She was surprised that she hadn't collapsed from the shock already, but she knew this person, and she really couldn't let him down.
"We need to have a talk about your random poofing in and out of places, because I am serious here, one day, you might kill me, Shou-chan." Kiko said in a almost weary tone, the upbeat tune in her voice and the smile on her face making her sound and look too happy to be tired. Kiko managed to pull his hand off her eyes, so she could see again. She turned around and wrapped her arms around Shouta's body, stepping closer to him, and pressing her face into his chest.
"I missed you." Kiko confessed, tightening her hold on her boyfriend. She had gone two weeks without him, she had a right to cling to him, and darn it all, cling was what she was going to do!
"But don't think you're off the hook for leaving me; I'm still mad, okay?" Kiko said after a while. "So you're going to recieve a thorough butt kicking later. Jerk."
------ "I hope they realize they're in a love shrine. A religious place and all that." Mitsukai said, pulling off her beanie, and examining the inside of it, talking to no one in particular. "Geez. I shed more than a frickin' cat." The neko chara groaned, looking at all the cinnamon colored strands of hair in her hat, completely running over the fact that she was a cat.
"How is that even possible?! I have my hair tied, for pete's sake!" As her rant continued, Mitsukai accepted the fact that she just might be insane.

Orange eyes rolled in reply to the girl’s so called “threat.” ”Hai, Hai. I’m already trembling in fear as we speak.” Shouta said in a teasing voice. Despite the orange haired boy’s nonchalant answer, in reality, Kiko’s anger was something to be feared. Who knew such a small person could have such a huge temper.
”So…what exactly are you doing in a love shrine, Chibi-chan? He asked, his face deadest and serious, though inside it really wasn’t. ”Something perverted maybe?”
------
”You’re exactly why cats should have not existed.” Ryuu called out as he floated towards the neko. ”They are so idiotic and do nothing to help the world.”
Today the chara’s mood was unusually bad for reasons unknown. Nevertheless, whatever it was, it would definitely be taken out on the one thing he disliked just as much as baths; Mitsukai.
OoC:
I’m so sorry this is so short and crappy. I have the worst writer’s block at the moment. >.<’

"!"
Kiko blushed beet red, face growing unbelievably hot as Shouta hinted that she was doing something inappropriate. She let go of her tall 'lover'(seriously, when Dorothy had said that, she almost had a heart attack), and stalked away, the palms of her small hands pressed against her burning cheeks.
"N-no! I wasn't doing anything perverted! At least...I don't think I was..." Kiko admitted, the blush burning hotter. Could her wish be viewed as 'perverted'?
Probably not, but that view point always seems to vary on person to person. The 'this action was not supposed to be perverted, but was interperted as so' scenario, if you will.
"Anyways! What are you doing here, Shou-chan?" Kiko asked, looking up at her boyfriend, cheeks still brightly aflame with color.
---
WHAP!
"You do not insult a girl or her speices after a two week period of not seeing each other, stupid." Mitsukai sniffed, exposed cat ears twitching around angrily, her hat used as a projectile to hit Ryuu square in the face.
Her statement was kind of ironic, seeing as how you're not supposed to throw something at someone after not seeing them in a while either.
"Maybe if you worked on your manners a bit, we could get along better. I wasn't even going to fight with you today." Mitsukai continued, indignant. She probably still would've fought with Ryuu anyways, but...it's the thought that counts, isn't it?
OOC: I hate writers block too. It kills everything. O_e
